When recent horticulture graduate Dr. Fenton Miller arrives in Stone Acres, California, he thinks his only concern is which job offer to accept after spending the holidays working at his cousin’s plant nursery. But after he rents a room from another shorter-than-average man, sous-chef John Barton, Fen falls in lust.

While he’s attracted to Fen, John’s got bigger concerns when two men from his past arrive in town and pressure him to return to San Francisco. Although John tries to stop Fen from getting involved, Fen realizes his lover is in trouble and is determined to protect him.

As the holidays get closer and Fen makes his own enemy, the joy of the season gets lost in the ill will around them. To ensure love triumphs, Fen and John must stand tall to show that short, dark, and handsome is a recipe for love.

Review
Short Order is the 8th book in the Foothills Pride series by author Pat Henshaw. This series just keeps getting better and better. It does not have to be read first to understand this story. But I would just because it is that good.
Fen is a doctor of horticulture.  He is going to cure the world through plants. He is easy going happy kinda guy. Nothing much phases him.
John he is brisk, all business.  He is sous chef and has a room for rent.
These two seem like the most unlikely of couples. But they are what the other needs. I like that. This is a very short story, but I really loved the characters. They are well developed and have a lot of heart and soul.
I think this one is a great addition to the series and I cannot wait to see who falls in love next.

Some like it rough…

Hollywood photographer, Terry Patterson, loves his job. But when it comes to romance, there is none – at least not anymore. Ever since producer, Phil Watts, abruptly left for a high-paying job in Toronto, Terry’s been determined to move on with his life. After all, they’d barely begun their relationship when everything got derailed. Just because he’s still in love with Phil after three years, shouldn’t it be time for him to finally let go?

Phil has learned the hard way that work and career is one thing, having someone by your side to love and cherish is another. The producing gig in Toronto left him cold and lonely, but a fateful meeting one night at a bar was a game-changer. Now that’s he’s back in town, Phil is ready to take the knowledge he gained while being trained as a lifestyle Master, and is determined to claim his boy.

Something about Phil seems different when Terry reluctantly gives into his pleas for them to meet. Terry isn’t sure whether to believe Phil’s promises that this time Terry’s heart will be safe, but he can’t deny the intensity of the chemistry they still share. When Phil reveals all, Terry is shocked, yet curious. As they discuss whether or not Terry is willing to try a relationship as a sub to Phil’s Dom, one thing in particular piques Terry’s curiosity. Phil mentions role play, and there’s a fantasy Terry has always had, but been way too embarrassed to ever confess.

Will Phil agree to satisfy Terry’s darkest fantasy?

Role Play is Book 1 in the Play Series, however, there is an HEA with no cliffhanger. Phil and Terry’s exploration into their new life together will continue in Book 2, out in the summer of 2016.

Warning: This story is intended for a mature audience and contains explicit content between consenting adults. There is also rough, fantasy role play that might be upsetting to some readers.

This novella is approximately 31,200 words and 85 pages with no additional content.

Review
Role Play by author Morticia Knight is the first book in the Play series. I love the character connection Ms. Knight brings to her stories. The BDSM is emotional as well brings the story to the next level.
Terry is a photographer. He is really hurt when his partner leaves him.  Now the man is back and a Dominate. Terry is not even sure what that means. He doesn’t want to open his heart again to the man who stomped all over it no matter how much the man wants a second chance.
Phil, learned he had been a jerk and selfish before. He took Terry for granted and never gave back in the relationship. Now he knows better. He knows himself and wants he wants. He knows Terry can be the perfect submissive he just needs to get him to trust him again.
Phil and Terry have come full circle in their relationship. Terry is very strong to go through all he has gone through and still love Phil. Phil is also strong for taking a deeper look into himself and knowing when he does wrong and admitting it.
Overall a powerful read. I cannot wait for more from this series in the future.

Gage is a typical omega—submissive, domestic, eager-to-please ... horny. But he wasn’t born with all the right equipment or the right smell. Living as a beta wolf is too painful, so he’s been hiding out in the human world. Then his sister turns up on his doorstep running from an unwanted claiming, and Gage is forced into Northern Pack territory to seek asylum.

Ryker’s a typical alpha—dominant, wild, protective … horny. But living in Northern Pack territory has taught him that omegas shouldn’t be forced into traditional roles, so he’s been making do with porn and fantasy, not wanting to be that alpha. Ryker isn’t sure why Gage triggers all his protective instincts, but he knows Gage needs him, and Gage is exactly the omega he’s been looking for.

When Ryker meets Gage, the attraction is instantaneous, but it can only be temporary. Ryker was built to live in wolf territory and that’s the one thing Gage will never do. As soon as he gets his sister settled, he’ll flee the Northern Pack and the alpha he’s always dreamed of belonging to. Unless love, with a little help from science, can find another way …

Omega Revealed is a M/M shapeshifter non-MPREG alpha/omega novella.

Review
Omega Revealed by author Tanya Chris is the second book in the Omega Re series. I found this is a good story and didn’t have to be read in order to be understood.
This is written in dual POV.  I like this POV the best. It allows me to get inside both character’s heads and get how they feel in a more personal manner.
Gage is a Beta he is really an Omega at heart, but his smell and build have placed him as a Beta.  He really hates it. He usually stayed the human world where he didn’t have to deal with alpha, omega, betas.  He could just be himself.
He really wanted an Alpha of his own to love. One who makes him feel small, protected, sexual but he knows he can never have that.
Ryker is an Alpha. He is dominant, protective.  He doesn’t see Omegas as having one roll. He is progressive in this thinking. When he connects with the most unlikely Omega he must make his mate believe that he can be who he is and Ryker will love him anyway.
I liked this story is about being accepted just the way you are. I think we all want that. This story did a great job of investing me as the reader and making me want more. When you want a romance with heart and soul I highly suggest this one.

I may hate the guy, but he was undeniably hot.

Edward and Blaine have a sordid past. Though they were once best friends, Blaine betrayed Edward in a way that Edward cannot forgive. These days, Edward is unbearably lonely as he hunts for his fated mate and he sees Blaine as being responsible for that loneliness.

But years have passed and all Blaine wants to do is apologize to Edward. He has missed Edward desperately and would do anything to have him back in his life. And though Edward does not want to forgive him, there is a spark between them that cannot be denied. Regardless, Edward only sees Blaine as an obstacle in his search for his fated alpha mate. But could it be the strong, sexy alpha he's been waiting for all his life is right in front of him?

This standalone M/M paranormal romance novella is currently on sale for only .99 and comes with a HEA ending! It's a steamy read that contains mpreg, knotting, and scenes only suitable for those over 18.

Review
Omega Father by author James Wolfe is the second book in the Fated Mates series. This can be read as a stand-alone novel and understood just fine.
This story is told in the first person. This is not my personal favorite POV but it works very well in this book.
Edward really wants to find his mate. He is only 20 but he feels much older than that. As a boy, he was open and talked to every Alpha he could. He got a rep for being a little overly eager. He always knew he was an Omega. He wanted to be a father badly. To take care of a home. Right now he is single Omega.
Blaine is an Alpha. They had been best friends when they were younger. He had made the mistake of choosing the other Alphas over Edward. Now he knows Edward is his mate but Edward is cautious, and won't give Blaine a chance. Well, he is a good Alpha he knows how to plan and wait for the one he really wants.
I loved this book. These characters have a lot of growing up to do,  they come full circle in this book.  There is a great connection and love really liked that. Highly recommend this one to a true romantic at heart.

Captain Nick Gates isn't looking for love. He's also not interested in being sold in a bachelor auction. Unfortunately for him, it's happening. The auction, that is. Love, that's another story. He was severely burned when his fiancée dumped him right after he was hurt during the war. Love? He doesn't do that. No matter how cute he thinks Addy is, his heart is off limits.

Addilyn Walton did something she's never done before for Nick Gates and he doesn't even know it. The one thing she does know is that Nick will hate her guts once he finds out who she is. Still, Addy is nothing like her sister, the evil spawn from hell. She has feelings and she really likes Nick. Enough to buy him at an auction for an outrageous amount of money. It's for charity, so it's okay, right?

Nick and Addy can't fight their attraction. They also can't fight the fact she's related to someone he despises. Maybe, if they focus on falling in love, things will work themselves out? Soon, they're going to find out that in love and war, anything goes.

Review
A Hero for Sale by author Milly Taiden is the third book in the suit romance, wounded soldier series. This is my first time reading this series and I was not lost in the least.
Nick is a navy seal captain. He is not looking for love. He is not interested in being in the soldier bachelor auction either. His fiancé has dumped him right after he was seriously hurt. His heart now is off limits. No longer wants or believes in love.
Addilyn her sister/ evil spawn most would not define their twin that way, but they did not have the normal sisterly bond.   Addilyn buys Nick at the auction. Addy has a history with Nick. One he doesn’t know completely about. But when he does will he still want her?
I loved Addy she is good, kind, sweet, and strong. I loved everything about her. She is the kind of woman you would want as your partner and best friend. She is loyal to a fault.
Nick is broken inside and he needs a strong woman to put him back together.  He might have just found her in Addy.
The emotion in this book keeps me turning the pages. These characters are very well suited to each other. This story has true heart and soul. I adored this one. I highly recommend it to a true romantic at heart. I cannot wait for more from this series in the future as well.

Connor’s week-long camping vacation in eastern Oregon takes a turn in the wrong direction when his car breaks down at a scenic location in the middle of nowhere. Things quickly get back on track when Jared, a local mechanic, passes by, offering to give him a ride into the small nearby town and fix up his car.

Jared, a gay, closeted mechanic from a small town, finds himself quickly attracted to Connor, the middle school math teacher from the big city on the other side of the state. A quick, sexy fling leads both men into lustful desire for more, but reality hammers home as Connor’s car is fixed and he is due back home for work.

How do two men living 300 miles apart, one out and proud in a big city, and the other closeted in a small rural town, come together to build something that resembles a real relationship? Can the two find patience with each other and the hours of highway between them, or do they give into the frustrations of physical and emotional distances as they struggle to build a relationship that can work for both of them?

Review
300 Miles by Patrick Mangan is a really super good read. I loved the pacing on this book. It is a slow burn build up. Has very strong memorable characters.  The town itself is cute and felt like a place I would love to visit.
Connor has left the big city and headed out camping. He is states away from home and his car breaks down. He has his dog with him. He ends up walking to find help cause he is in the middle of nowhere.
Jared is a small-town mechanic and a man with a great heart. He ends up rescuing Connor and his dog. He owns his own shop and offers to help fix Connor’s car. The chemistry between these two is at friendship level at this point.
I liked the simmering romance. It is not a full-on attack but a slow burn that creeps up on you. I liked that both men are really nice people they are not overly anything.  I found that fun and refreshing to read.
Overall if you are a true romantic like me this is a fun easy read I really enjoyed.

One man, shot, robbed, and left for dead. The poor soul who rescued him was dying, destitute, living on what little he could trap or grow, and the victim of brutal abuse. Jacob follows the scent of blood to find them both, and something extraordinary: a call to blood and bite with two, one a wolf bent on revenge, the other a human with a heart of gold.

As alpha, Jacob couldn’t leave his pack. With the position of beta already taken within the pack, Nathan couldn’t stay without conflict. The blood and bite between them would seal a bond, denying them Caleb’s love. If either mated with him, Caleb would be at the mercy of wolf prejudice against humans. A three way mating had never been heard of, and they were certain, if they were to succeed, the stress of a double change would kill Caleb. They could see only one choice: do what they could for Caleb, sacrificing their love for him and each other.

Can there ever be a future of any of them?

Review
Blood and Bite by LL Brooks.  This was an interesting story.  I had some problems with it but overall it is a good read. There are holes in this story though. Feels slightly off.  I adore this author, so I kept reading. The story does iron itself out.  But you’re gonna have to have some patience.
There is a good connection between the characters.  Which is all important.  I think more world building would be helpful to that feeling of being lost.
Caleb finds a man bloodied on the side of road.  Poor he does not own a gun, he is bullied by the locals.  He has nothing. Really no food, no clothes nothing.
He does have a great heart. He is helpful even when it is a danger to himself.
Nathan, drinks rabbit blood to cure himself.  He is a strong shifter.
Jacob is an Alpha who sees new paranormal in his territory. He finds out that Nathan and Caleb are his mates. But how do you get a human to be mated with them? Specially with his circumstances.
This is where the story took a turn for me. The two shifters seem more suited than Caleb. He is more like the damsel in distress kinda character.
So, my overall is a good read, has a few problems but not so much I cannot recommend reading this one.
